Internal Audit Department
The Internal Audit Department (IAD) conducts regular and thorough audits for Etihad Rail’s various departments to continually add value and improve organisational operations. IAD objectives are achieved through a systematic, disciplined approach: to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Comprising the Human Resources, the Emiratisation & Talent Management, the Administration, the Information Technology, and the Corporate Policy Governance departments; each Business Support unit functions to actively uphold the integrity of Etihad Rail’s overall operations.
The Commercial department is responsible for Etihad Rail’s Strategic Planning & Corporate Performance, Product Development, Business Development, Marketing & Communications, Sales & Contracts and Key Account Management.
The Finance department develops, implements and audits all strategic and tactical funding plans, ensuring a robust and well controlled financial environment. It also supports other business functions through financial analysis. These responsibilities are fulfilled through the roles of Corporate Finance/Treasury, Risk Management & Insurance, Compliance, Financial Controls Reporting and Functional Finance Support.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) & Quality
The HSE department plans and executes a strategically designed HSE framework to protect the environment. It accomplishes this throughout Etihad Rail’s entire construction and operational activities, minimising occupational, public health and safety risks and ensuring the highest standards of HSE performance and quality systems according to internationally recognised standards and guidelines.
The Legal department is responsible for all Legal Risk Management & Client Services. The primary functions of Legal Risk Management include acting as the owner and steward of Etihad Rail’s legal risks. The primary function of Client Services involves the management of legal services tendered to clients throughout the organization.
The Operations team is responsible for Etihad Rail’s full operational safety, integrated train operations, all operations development, the rolling stock and track, and all associated facilities. The operations department is also responsible for ensuring that all activities, including feasibility, design, construction, engineering, commissioning and implementation of projects; are planned effectively in order to operate in a manner that is safe, reliable, efficient and consistent with internationally recognised best practices.
The Procurement department manages all of Etihad Rail’s procurement functions, ensuring the proper and correct implementation of established procurement policies and procedures, including the tendering process and other aspects of contract completion, according to the Emirati law and internationally accepted practices.
The Projects team leads the design, construction, commissioning and integration of all infrastructure and fixed installation aspects of the Etihad Rail network within the UAE, in conjunction and collaboration with Etihad national and international partners. This ensures continuity of operations, inter-state operability, and mutually beneficial social development and economic growth.
