Construction on the UAE Network is Complete

Built to international standards, the railway links the principal centres of trade, industry, manufacturing, production, logistics, population, and all the major import and export points of the United Arab Emirates as well as forms an integral part of the planned Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network.

Since 2016, Etihad Rail has successfully been operating a route that spans 264km, transporting granulated sulphur from sources at Shah and Habshan to export in Ruways, establishing rail as a safe and sustainable mode of transport with a proven track record.
Construction on the network expansion to connect the emirates spanning across the entire UAE, from Ghuwaifat on the border with Saudi Arabia to Fujairah on the eastern coast, began in January 2020.

In 2023, Etihad Rail inaugurated the network expansion, spanning around 900km linking all seven emirates, from Ghuweifat on the border with Saudi Arabia to Fujairah on the eastern cost of the UAE, and launched Freight Train operations across the UAE.
