Etihad Rail is aware of the implications the rail network may have on native wildlife and vegetation. The company is working in close coordination with both the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, taking extra precautions to preserve the UAE’s natural environment and heritage.

Several crossing points are being built for camels, gazelles and reptiles, and Etihad Rail is undertaking measures such as close monitoring of wildlife to ensure any interference is minimised. Etihad Rail is also avoiding wildlife nesting sites, particularly in the case of rare or threatened species, throughout the construction of the railway, and ensuring that any vegetation in the path of railway routes is re-planted elsewhere.
